Loosing weight in a controlled healthy way helps in keeping it off too, instead of instant weight loss methods where the weight comes back the moment the person returns to normal eating habits. Developing the right eating habits and sticking to it is really the best way for weight loss and weight control. What one should aim at is loosing fat and not muscle.
Plan your weight loss program
Plan your weight loss program just like you plan any other important event in your life. Do not be haphazard in the way you go about it, but systematically eliminate all the unwanted things which are adding up to your excess weight remaining right there and not budging. You should make sure that your intake of food should be less than the output of calories being used.
Make a chart of all that you normally eat every day and add up the caloric values. This will help you in seeing what is not required and where the extra calories are getting accumulated from. Along with the food intake chart you should make one for amount of activities you are involved in everyday, like the walk to the shops, the walk at your work place to various departments, in the home for the household chores and the exercise which you do. If you find that the food intake is too much for the activities, then cut down on the unnecessary foods without damaging your nutrition and increase the amount of exercise in your daily routine.
Change your eating habits
The main foods which harm your system are white foods like polished rice, white flour (Maida), refined sugar, dairy products which have a fat content and fatty food. Switch to whole grain cereals like wheat, barley, oats; low fat products like skimmed milk and yogurt and cheese which have a low fat content; add fibre to your diet like flax seeds, multi grain cereals and include roughage from fruits and vegetables. Fruit juice is not as beneficial as fruits, so eat them instead of drinking the juice.
Increase your metabolic rate
The right diet along with an exercise plan will definitely increase your metabolic rate and with it the rate of burning up the calories will also improve. A sluggish body with little or no activity harms everything from your digestion to your posture. So plan on getting started with exercise which peps you up and a diet which adds energy and not fat and weight to your body.
Exercise therapy
There are many different kinds of exercises and you should opt for one which suits your age and stamina and health condition. Do not overdo the exercise bit and end up with strained muscles, but take the advice of a trained physical trainer who will be able to guide you to accomplish a good weight loss program along with toning up the muscles.
Weight loss is a combination of diet and exercise in the right way and this is what your should plan for yourself with a stipulated time frame to get the desired results.
